All Natural Gingerbread [Bulkbites.com]

This typical Dutch gingerbread is great for snack or breakfast. It contains a lot of carbs which makes it a good pre-workout recipe, preferably eat it 45-60 minutes before you workout. Note that there are no artificial sugars in this gingerbread, only natural! Rye flour is much more healthier than the more often used wheat, as it contains much more nutrients and fibers.

Ingredients
- 200 gram 1% low fat milk
- 250 gram Rye flour, dark
- 1 medium Egg, whole, raw, fresh
- 100 gram Honey
- 30 gram Syrup apple
- 2 tsp Leavening agents, baking soda
- 1 dash Salt, table
- 8 teaspoon Spices, five spice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175-180 degrees celsius
- Spray your baking tin with non-stick spray
- Put the milk, the egg, the honey, the apple syrup, and the five spices (in Dutch: speculaas kruiden) in a mixing bowl
- Mix for about 3 minutes on half power
- Add the rye flour bit by bit while mixing to prevent the mixture from clotting
- At last, add the backing soda and the salt
- Scoop the mixture in the backing tin and bake in the middle of your oven for about 50 minutes
- After baking, leave the gingerbread in the tin for about 5 minutes. Take out of the tin and let it cool down on, preferably on a cake grid.
